The Bilderberg Club (Nothing to See Here)

'No fotografia' - the snap of a bemulleted Greek copper that landed Charlie Skelton in police custody at Bilderberg. Photograph: Charlie Skelton/Guardian The Bilderberg Club may be the most powerful group in the world that you know nothing about. No corporate logo, no flashy website, no press releases. Just a secretive, closed door, invitation only weekend retreat attended by some of the most powerful people on the planet (we think) to discuss some of the worlds most vexing challenges (again, we think).

From Wikipedia (May 15, 2009):

The Bilderberg Group, Bilderberg conference, or Bilderberg Club is an unofficial, annual, invitation-only conference of around 130 guests, most of whom are persons of influence in the fields of politics, business, and banking.

The group meets annually at luxury hotels or resorts throughout the world — normally in Europe, and once every four years in the United States or Canada. It has an office in Leiden in the Netherlands. The 2008 conference took place in Chantilly, Virginia. and the 2009 meeting takes place from May 14-16 in Athens, Greece.

Here’s a video clip from the History Channel that provides an overview of the Bilderbergs:

Global political, business and banking leaders getting together in secrecy is definitely (and rightly) fodder for conspiracy theorists. What do you think? Another secret society pulling the levers of politics and commerce or just a group of well intentioned leaders spending some quality “quiet” time together in an effort to solve the world’s problems?

You can follow Charlie Skelton’s Bilderberg files for Guardian.co.uk which he frequency updates during his quest to learn more about the Bilderberg meeting taking place in Athens, Greece.

Conspiracy theory – The guy in The History Channel interview is David Icke. He is a British former sports journalist who, according to the British press, announced that he was the son of God. Wikipedia says this about him: "At the heart of Icke's theories is the view that the world is ruled by a secret group called the "Global Elite" or "Illuminati," which he has linked to The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, an anti-Semitic hoax. In 1999, he published The Biggest Secret, in which he wrote that the Illuminati are a race of reptilian humanoids known as the Babylonian Brotherhood, and that many prominent figures are reptilian, including George W. Bush, Queen Elizabeth II, Kris Kristofferson, and Boxcar Willie." Phil Dourado (non-reptilian. Honest) http://www.theleadershiphub.com

      Phil,
Thanks for visiting, commenting and educating us about David Icke. Come on, you're telling us that this guy isn't credible on this subject?

Putting aside his crackpot credentials, the Bilderberg Group/Club does make one pause to think about what's so important that elected officials meet with some of the most powerful business people in the world behind closed doors and forever sworn to secrecy. While I'm typically not a conspiracy theorist, this does leave me wondering.

BTW, enjoy what you're doing at The Leadership Hub. Keep up the great work!
